MIDI file - lyrics and markers not imported

Post by ChrisByrd »

I'm trying to import a MIDI file exported from Cubase into DP 8 and, though the tempo, time signature changes and notes import OK, the lyrics and (less importantly) the markers don't import at all. I've tried dragging the MIDI file into the Chunks window, and also opening the file directly but both give the same result. I've loaded the same MIDI file into Logic, and everything imports OK.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance

Hi Chris,

DP is not able to import or export lyrics in a MIDI file. I have asked for this feature about 2 years ago and I was, pretty much told that it will not be implemented.

Why?
1. Only a few DP users have asked for it.
2. It takes quite sometime to code it.

Hi Adriano,

Thanks for the reply. It's a bit disappointing as I'm transferring old projects across from Cubase and Logic, but I can experiment with copying and pasting the lyrics.

Hi Chris,

I don't know what your needs are, exactly.

Maybe this will help? I haven't tried. I just now did a search on macupdate and this is what it gave me:

https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/45610/midico

Here is the developer site:

Hi Adriano,

Thanks for the link. I didn't have much luck with the demo though as it crashed each time I tried to open a MIDI file. I doesn't matter though as I've found I can copy and paste to and from the lyrics window in DP which will keep me going for the moment.
