DP8 will launch as 64-bit by default.

Find the DP8 app in the Finder and Get Info. Check the box to run in 32-bit mode. See if your UAD plugs are back.

You can also update to newest version of UAD plug-ins which are 64-bit compatible and then it won't matter (at least for the UAD plug-ins) if DP8 is running in 64-bit or 32-bit.

Our webmaster an host has got it right. Update UAD (as long as you are using a UAD2 card) and you will be loving 64 bit operation.

thanks guys - that did the trick (updated to 64 bit uad drivers / code). Don't know if its my imagination, but some of my mixes sound different too. one adjective might be 'effortless'. I guess that's 384 dB of dynamic range at work.

Not exactly. 64-bit applies to memory addressing, not the audio. :)
