Double-clicking soundbite in TO used to..

...take me to that exact place in the sequence editor. Now it takes me to the SE, but not scrolled to the place/soundbite I clicked- gotta scroll vertically every time and search for it. Horizontal seems OK.

Is this a setting somewhere, or just a bug, or another case of MOTU thinking everyone prefers it that way?

IN DP8.04, when I double-click a soundbite in the TO, it opens the SE and shows the soundbite highlighted and makes it visible. Sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom, sometimes in the middle. It all depends on how many tracks are showing and the zoom level.

I don't know of any preference setting that makes that happen, unless there's something is Auto Scroll you could change to help it, but I doubt it.

Have you tried a restart?

In Auto scroll preferences, you have "All windows follow the counter and stay together when you scroll them manually", and there is "All windows follow the counter", which is where mine was set. I set it to the former and it worked, although I'm not sure why.. apparently something about staying together when scrolled manually brought back the behavior I want, mostly.

Oh well, whatever works!

I spoke too soon.. it now goes to the correct sound bite sometimes, randomly, as opposed to before, when it never did. :shake:

Do you use Consolidated Windows? Are you working with multiple chunks? I'm just wondering because I never do. You might want to go into the Consolidated Windows preferences and set them up again to see if it makes a difference. Nothing in there really pertains exactly to problem you're seeing, but you never know what might set it right.

If you're working on a multi-chunk project, try working with just one chunk just to see if that makes a difference.

I have to say it: Make sure you restart. That wipes out many a gremlin.

When I click on a soundbite in the TO it highlights it in the Sequence window - but along with loads of other tracks in the sequence window - so it doesn't "solo" it. However I have a key shortcut to View Selection in the Sequence Editor command (Navigation group) which does that same thing. Double clicking would be easier but I haven't investigated whether it is possible to make that work. If the counter is set to a place it appears to show the soundbite where the wiper is in the TO - but it seems a bit hit and miss.

I don't do a lot in the TO window, but this seems to be working for me in the few times I tried it. If I double click a soundbite in the TO, it opens up a SE windows and highlights the bite. If I double click MIDI events in the TO, it opens up a GE window at that point. I have auto scroll set to "all windows follow the counter". But I find the scrolling itself does not work consistently. Sometimes during play, the SE fails to scroll as the wiper moves off it while it still scrolls properly in other windows. Perhaps this is the same inconsistency that affects the result when double clicking a bite.

Another thing: this (double clicking a bite in the TO to see it in the SE) is affected by the setting for the max number of panes vertically in the CW options. I have it set to 2 and if there are already 2, the behaviour is slightly different.

Has become a huge drag on my workflow.. it's frustrating and time consuming. Worked so perfectly in DP7.

MOTU, please have a look at this..

I think it's a bug. Others have reported it in great detail. It's certainly fixable if we just make sure MOTU is aware of how it works and what it's doing.

I was told by some Motu internet response (perhaps on Facebook) that this was a known bug and would be fixed in an update.

Yeah, this is my number one bug in an otherwise pretty awesome release.

In the meantime, I think that if you double-click on the track name, in the TO window, you will be taken to the counter position on the correct track, in the Sequence Window, provided that it's an audio track you clicked.

I was wrong about that workaround. It also yields unpredictable results. . . :deadhorse:
