Ditch my Canopus ADVC 110?

Hello,

I got the demo version of DP8 up and running! I have some downtime to try it out.

Everything is running rock solid and I love everything about the new version! However, When I load up a video, I can do Firewire DVCPRO NTSC, but it gives me a quick error saying - "Your external device doesn't support the projects frame rate" Or something like that.

Then I hit OKAY, and it all seems to work fine. It does some weird things here and there, but it's okay. Like sometimes if I stop it, the timecode is 6 frames off. Then i'll play, and stop it and it is only 2 frames off.. But it seems to be locked in as it's playing. Only when stopping it, it seems to be off.. DP7 ran everything perfectly and never had any problems with my Canopus.

I have all my cables ran and I would hate to have to redo everything - as in, if I had to setup a "3rd monitor" type scenario.

Do any of you have any experiences with this? Is my Canopus an endangered species??

Thank you!!

~Marc

Not sure what machine you're using. The second post on this page shows you how I sort of fixed my issue - which seems similar to what you're experiencing. How exactly you create the files that your outputting to the ADVC can effect greatly the performance you get.
