Do You Want/Need/Would Like MOTU to add "Mute MIDI Note"?

Who ever is for it, should kindly chime in with a friendly +1.

Good Luck! 8)

Wrong forum for feature requests.

You can mute MIDI notes in the Drum Editor and in the Quickscribe window (display only from the mini-menu). MOTU is aware of the request for the ability to mute MIDI notes in other editor windows.

I don't remember anyone ever mentioning that one with QS and Display-only mode. So there IS a way to mute MIDI notes (in addition to the Takes workaround) 8)

Thanks, MagicD!

I don't oppose having MIDI Note Mute, but I wouldn't use that feature because it's useless to me, and frankly, I'd prefer to see MOTU focusing on other priorities.

Thanks MD, in the drum editor, you mean the play enable button to the left for each note on the keyboard?

+1, of course, but this is the umpteenth thread asking for this very feature. Why do you expect better results for this thread than for the countless others?

In the meantime, don't punish yourself. Learn the workarounds and use them.

A response from MD isn't enough proof?

Already do. :)

Enough proof?

What does that prove, exactly?

He simply chose to chime in this topic, just like he does with others.

It's like I have said before. MOTU *IS* aware of the desire on the part of many in the DP user base for this feature. Posting about it over and over may be of some therapeutic benefit to those posting, but besides that, not much.

I humbly and respectfully disagree - having this topic come up every once in a while, posted by different people, shows MOTU that 1. this is an issue that isn't merely a temporary fad but continues to be of ongoing concern, and 2. is an issue to a number of folks, not just to a few.

It proves they are thinking about it. Which is a lot more information than any other mute MIDI note thread has provided. Respectfully disagree with the general negativity aimed at this thread. It's the first of it's kind to have any feedback from MOTU and therefore is much more productive from the start. :)

I don't think it indicates, let alone prove, much, to be honest.
Only MagicD knows his motivations for chiming in. The rest is just interpretation or speculation.

But hey, if you guys really want this feature I'm all for it! :)
Thinking about it, it can't be a bad thing to unify the SB and MIDI mute behaviours...

Well I for one did not know before this thread that anyone at MOTU was aware it was a common feature request.

Honestly though I would rather have the built in ability to restrain notes in a MIDI track to a range, (C-1 to C-4 etc.), that's something that would be really useful to me.

Do you mean something similar to MachFive's keygroups?

What do you have in mind, Michael?
