Firewire->Expresscard->USB: Will this work?
I have an Ultralite (the original) and very little money. I got a new computer, stepping up from my Powerbook G4 after 8 years. I now have a Windows machine with a bunch of USB inputs and HDMI. I like everything about it (it was a great deal) except for the fact that I can't connect my Ultralite to it. Has anyone tried adapting firewire to expresscard, and expresscard to USB, in order to connect to a machine with only USB ports?

Surely you have an open, available PCI slot on this new machine?
A new firewire card for it can be as cheap as $4.99:

Just install it and change the IEEE 1394 driver to the one with Legacy in its name, if Windows 7. Windows 8 would need special steps to do that.
You'd be all set.
