Text in DP 8.02

Post by josephmartin »

After installing DP 8.02 (Mac OS 10.6.8) the text in the tracks window, event list, etc is now all in italics. Not that it is a problem with working, but before it would be in italic when it loaded a project and then changed to regular text. Now everything stays in italics. Is this happening with everyone? Or is it just me? Wondering if i maybe have to reinstall a font or something? Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to your inputs and outputs section in the TO window? If so, italics is DP's way to tell you the bundles are not available (they have no tiles in the bundles window).

i'm on DP 8.04 now, and the text in the tracks overview window is still in italics. the text in the chunks, event list, etc. windows also shows up in italics. so it has nothing to do with bundles. are there any fonts that should be installed for text to show up properly? I did do some cleaning up of duplicate fonts prior to this happening. everything works fine in DP, so it's no big deal if this continues, just curious more than anything as to why that is happening for me. thanks.

If you screwed up the fonts with Font Book or some other utility, then a reinstall of DP might fix that. Otherwise a call or techlink to MOTU may be in order.

i was going to do that, but assumed going from 8.02 to 8.04 counted as a reinstall since it is such a large download (the whole program). i'll try a fresh reinstall of DP from the disc. MOTU tech support couldn't help me. Thanks.

Sometimes when stuff like this happens, clearing the system font cache(s) and restarting can fix it. I've used the free utility FontNuke for years:

You might rerun the DP installer? I wonder if you might have accidentally deleted one of the fonts DP needs? I haven't seen this before. Maybe DP uses a font that is installed with OSX and one of those was deleted by mistake? Hmmmm... :(

That was one of my first suggestions as well. Couldn't hurt!
