Some plugins in 802 not showing up?

I added B4-II after installing 802 (mac). Its in the same folder as my other NI software, which DP8 sees. It also immediately showed up in Cubase 7, however it wont show up in DP8. Is there a way to manually add AU/Vsts to DP8 now? What am I doing wrong?? :?:

I'm seeing this on a couple of Waves plugs.

B4 is not 64 bit compatible. Use JBridge with B4 VST if you running DP in 64 bit mode.

Seems you are right HC, its not 64 bit compatible now in DP802, but it runs just fine in Cubase 7 64 bit, and Logic 9 64 bit, in 32bit mode on the same iMac drive. It seems that their 32 bit emulation Cubase and Logic) works in 64 bit mode too. Now then, why would I need JBridge when DP8's 32 bit issues in 64 bit mode seems to be the one having the problem?

I ask again, because I have some plugins not showing up (the PC side of the house is worse atm) is there no way to try to manually add or remove one plugin from the tabs in DP8?

Edited- I restarted DP802 in 32 bit mode and every plugin ( as far as I can tell) that was not loading in 64 bit now is available. Looks like its 32 bit DP8 for me for a while.

DP 8 in 64bit mode does not support 32bit plugins. There is no problem with DP; MOTU elected to do it that way.

B4 has not been updated to 64bit. JBridge is an inexpensive 3rd party utility designed to address this. It does not work on everything, however.

So Mike, you are saying to me that there is no problem in that Cubase 7 (in 64 bit) and Logic 9 (in 64 bit) works with 32 bit plugins, but DP doesn't work with 32 bit plugins (wait- some do work, just not all of them) in 64 bit. That this was the expectation DP was wanting. And thats not an issue with you or DP because MOTU decided to do it this way??? Logic 9 (64 bit) even separates the plugins out for you in different tabs "automatically" so you know which ones are 32 bit...

I doubt that the DP devs made a conscience decision to allow other hosts to do what it cant, but Ive been surprised before, and stranger things have happened... Mike thanks for your reply in any case...

Ill just wait for a DP update that fixes this... :banghead:

MOTU decide to NOT build in a 32-bit bridge in their 64-bit version of DP. They made this choice to favor program stability over backwards compatibility with 32-bit plug-ins in a 64-bit system. This was by design. If you want to run 64-bit DP....ALL of your plugins have to be 64-bit versions. If you must have some 32-bit plugins...you can force DP to open in 32-bit mode and use it that way (Hence giving up your 64-bit access to RAM features).

The bit bridges in Logic and Cubase (in hearing from friends who have used them)...are hit and miss anyway. Sometimes it works well...sometimes it does not. Again..MOTU chose to avoid that problem by just not recognizing 32-bit plug-ins in a 64-bit system.

Having said that...you can do this with a third party plugin that is cheap called JBridge. It will create the bridge for you...and thereby run 32-bit VST plugins in 64-bit DP. But like the bit-bridges in Logic and Cubase...it also has its problems. Some things work well. Some things, don't.

Those are the options.

Ok so that was the plan, to make a more stable DP. Im all for that as well since I also am a legit user of DP8. Can I get your source, or link please? Id like to read more about this hit and miss idea, if only for my own information... Thanks...

Get JBridge ($13) if you want to try bridging. At this point, I am using NI's Vintage Organ in lieu of B4. We'll see if I miss B4...

As posted elsewhere, if you have 32 bit AU VIs or plugs, jbridge WILL NOT allow access to these. Plogue Bidule, OTOH, does allow the use of AU in their bridge.

Just sayin....

Yes... and I got it directly from numerous MOTU employees at NAMM.

I can also confirm that and have a Track 16 to prove it! :)
