I think it's telling that MP3 encoding is the one feature locked out of the demo version. I believe you can't sell L.A.M.E with a commercial product under GNU license, hence the required external download. They've probably contracted with a commercial MP3 encoding package... it's the one piece of the software that they didn't write, and owe royalties on, there-for, they can't give it away in a demo.

I removed my LAME file in the Audio Export Folder and it's working great! Didn't want DP to get confused (which it didn't anyways).

Remember that other things use LAME, so don't get rid of too may files!

If I understand it correctly, you can't sell the LAME encoder, but you can create and sell a front end for it, and the encoder is useless without a front-end, even if you use Terminal for that. (then Terminal becomes the front end) LAME is just the engine that does the work.

And all the above is only true if my memory serves. All my posts should come with a faulty memory disclaimer.

I don't understand.. if I go to bounce to disk, there is only the LAME option for MP3's, same as before.. how do I know I'm using the right MP3 conversion? Do I have to go uninstall LAME?

I disabled the old DP one only Shooshie. I also have Snapper and other things using the other LAME encoder. So happy that it's integrated in DP now!

Hey sorry to go off topic, but how is Snapper working in 10.8.3? I've been wanting to get it for my system.. it tried it out a few years ago, but never purchased it, for some reason.

Love snapper. Use it for all sorts of things. Just wish they would implement the spotting feature like what they have for pt, which they said they'd do 2-3 years ago :-( maybe now?
