F# Below Middle C Dead Only in DP!

Post by earbrain »

Do any of the wise folks here know why Digital Performer 8 would refuse to play only one single MIDI note? F# below middle C is dead in DP only. My Audio Express lights up and the DP MIDI Monitor lights up, and both controllers I've tried are outputting the note, but the note does not sound out within the virtual instrument, nor does it record into a MIDI track. In Garageband I have no such problem. And in all virtual instrument standalone apps (Kontakt, Play, etc.) whether through Vienna Ensemble Pro or not, the F# below middle C sounds out. However, as soon as I try the plugin versions of these instruments in DP, the note no longer sounds out or records—it's totally dead. Any ideas?

Go to the Commands window and see if the key is assigned anywhere.

Yes! The note had been assigned to the Chunk Section command—must have been from a huge old project I did with lots of chunks last year. Thanks.

Probably not. It happens every so often to me and I never use that command. I think there is a key combo that activates it or the plist just likes to mess with us. Kind of like hitting cmd-f only to find we can't see our data any more.

HA ha ha! This happens to me EVERY TIME I make a new project. It's the default command to switch to some chunk. EVERY TIME. Just go to commands and delete it. :banghead:

If you create a template that has the that command disabled, you won't have the problem again, as long as you start new projects with the template.
