828 MK3, nasty electrical click/pops

Hey guys.

This is my first post here.
I picked up my second hand 828 MK3 firewire two weeks ago and I love it to bits. It rocks in so many ways! But one thing shatters my bliss.

Everytime someone in the apartment turns on or off a fluorescent tube lamp, the 828 sends a nasty "pop" to my speakers. It's particularly bad when turning the lamps off and I fear that the tweeters in my monitors won't take it in the long run... it's that loud!

Am I the only one experiencing this?

I know that all MOTU's have DC coupled outputs and I'm wondering if that might be the reason? Are they extra sensitive to fluctuations on the power grid? Do I need a surge protector?

By the way, I'm using balanced cables.
Any clues would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

I have mine on a rack mount style power conditioner for these sort of things. They are not that expensive. Check Guitar Center if one is around you.

Either it is coming from the house wiring and can be fixed with a good power conditioner or it is a shielding issue where something is acting as an antenna.

Disconnect everything and listen with headphones. Do you still get the noise? If not, it is something that is hooked up to it, not the 828.
