Apogee's gone iOS mad

It's been a month or two now since Apogee updated most of their product line to be iPad/iPhone compatible. Is anybody using any of these new systems (the new Duet or Quartet etc.)?
I wonder if this shift is for genuine functionality and user improvements or in fact just a marketing move to gain more customers.
Just curious to know if it's all just a gimmick or if using these new features does actually improve workflow etc.
