help! serious and weird DP8 problem

I've been using Performer for a very long time and I have never had this problem before. I hope someone here can help! I'm on a dual core Macbook Pro with an i7 processor, 8Gb of RAM, and two hard drives with DP8 on one of them and my data on the other.

Just as I was finishing a critical round of edits, all my track data disappeared. I can hear the data, so I know it's still there in some fashion. I just can't SEE it. The Track window on the right is totally white, as if I hadn't recorded anything, yet the track names and color scheme is still there on the left. In the Sequence window the same thing is happening: I can open and close tracks, but I can't SEE anything in the ones that are open: again, total white. The interface is still there, bar lines, numbers across the top, etc. - just the data missing.

The problem extends to the Event List window as well: nothing is listed even though I can hear the MIDI and audio tracks playing. The problem is not in my current file; I opened older files, too, and exactly the same thing is happening. The only data I can see anywhere is the waveforms when I open the Waveform Edit window.

I've repaired permissions; I suppose the next step is to trash DP's prefs. Any other suggestions? Anyone else run into this problem? Please help!

thanks,
Mike E

At some point you hit the cmd-f key; the one MOST programs use as "find." You dismissed the dialogue (which is for the "filter" and you filtered out all the visual data. Hit cmd-f again, deselect all the stuff you want to see. leave the rest (if any) and close the box CAREFULLY. Pretty much everyone gets this at some point. It's a right of passage. Welcome home. :)
