DP 8 & Mountain Lion

I just upgraded to DP 8 and am using Lion 10.7.5. I also just acquired Mountain Lion 10.8.2, but have not installed it yet.

I'm wondering how people are finding DP8 running on Mountain Lion. Are they proving to be a dependable combo?

Please share your experiences/recommendations.

Is this a good time to upgrade to Mountain Lion with DP8?

Thanks!

Lookie here. The topic title isn't reflecting it, but you'll see a lot of info here. In short, works great for some, probably most. Little things here and there but if the rest of your system and plugs are ready for ML, DP is.

There are a few other threads that get more detailed but you'll have to suss them out.

ML 10.8.2 is now v. good in my experience on both a Macbook air and a Mac Pro, and in running a number of DAWS /plugins increasingly 64bit. 2013 should be rather excellent as the 64 bit thing comes more and more together. Here i'm assuming relatively recent computer hardware & which is VIP.

DP8.01 though, that's another matter. Numerous bugs about but I think this has more to do with MOTU than ML pe se. For example: movie window float 'on top' aways crashes DP; consolidated windows can tend to have a mind of their own and do not update views consistently, other graphics bugs in general. Its a bit on the crashy side if one mouses too quickly. Patience and a eagle eye on the fiddly nature of the busy interface helps.

I'm sure the DP issues will be ironed out in the new few revs & don't see that these matters relate to ML so much - what I always do is have the prior working system setup on another drive & flip between the lastest and last system as required. When the latest is genuinely 'gold' then I clone this to the other drive, freeze and continue. A second boot system is also useful for maintenance. Carbon Copy cloner is excellent for just this.

I had the float on top bug in 8.0 but it was fixed (on my system) in 8.01. I use is all the time. You might have to trash the DP plists or something?

I've just got ML (as a result of the thread on here. Brave or stupid?!) and so far seems great. I do hint a speedier DP but the movie float on top bug has hit me hard. It's just a crashed a project from a few weeks back four times in a row (with four reports sent to MOTU).
Luckily I have no projects needing it over the next few months.

One thing to note from going from SL is that I disabled 'Find my Device' on installation because I've read if your Apple ID gets hacked the first thing they do is wipe all the registered devices.
Even with backup that would still be a big pain in the derrière.

Funny thing - the float movie bug hit me in 8.0 but not in 8.01. I float it on top all the time. Are you using consolidated windows? Try popping the movie in and out of the CW with CTL-1 (the command to pop any window in/out the CW - as long as it can be used in the CW in the first place - not all can).

Hey MLC

Yeh that's with the movie window popped out oh and 8.01. The work around (if it came to it) is just grabbing the window from the expose (F3) non stop.
So to anyone currently/about to score to picture I'd hold off incase.
Apart from that the move to ML seems to be good!!
