Is it normal for Mac Pro batteries to get deformed?

I suppose it's more of an indication that the battery is starting to die? Because it still works fine...
This happened years ago too.
When I place my MBP over a table it's not stable because I can see a weird curvature on its bottom caused by the swollen battery. I took it out and from one side it's ok, but the other seems it "grew", so one side is wider than the other.
I've been with this battery at least 5-6 years, so I take it it's simply time to get a new one?

You're only as good as your weakest component...

My partner had the same problem with a MBP 17" from early 2007 - the battery warped so badly it pushed on the back of the trackpad, making it unusable.... replacing it fixed it - I think the laptop was always used on a solid surface rather than a stand.
If the machine is still working for you I would say get a new battery and maybe consider a stand.
I'd say 5-6 years is pretty good going!! My MBP 15" from early 2007 has never had a usable battery - I only ever use it plugged in.
Cheers!!

Exactly! That's how I started noticing this. Since yesterday the track pad didn't click on either side anymore, and weird selections seemed to be done on their own.
I'll get a new battery. This is my office computer (2006) and it still runs fine, so I guess I'll keep it as long as I can, then I'll inherit it to my parents

Apple and others have had recalls to replace swollen (bloated) batteries. Looks like Apple's is closed now, but there appears to have been a safety concern.

My mom's MP keyboard stopped functioning and when I took it to the Apple store, the first thing they checked for was battery expansion. A new battery fixed it.

Deformed batteries will usually be replaced under warranty.
No idea if you have Apple stores nearby but if you do, just bring it in.

I had the same swelling battery problem with my 17” MBP (late ‘06). It got so bad that the trackpad became erratic and a couple of my keys on the keyboard started to quit responding. I finally discovered what was happening when I took it off the slanted stand I normally kept it on and placed on my desktop. It had swollen so badly that the whole laptop would rock and roll due to the bulge.

What is your relationship with the business in your signature? I have to wonder as you replied to a post that was obvious spam.
