Set Ramp Density settings

I have fiddled with these settings (in Preferences>Editing>Continuous Data), in the manual (p.383) it says the default is 90 yet I can only go-between 1-60. No matter what I do I still seem to get these double dots and stair stepping. Any ideas?

Try going into "Lines Mode" and using the Reshape tool to shape it, or drag the control points. DP will generate the fill-ins between points when you're in Lines Mode. You can use a spline or parabola shape. My continuous data density is set at 4. Yes, just 4. I can thin them out if I want, but I like to eliminate the stair-stepping as much as possible.

MIDI doesn't work the same way as automation ramps. MIDI can only set the value at a discreet number, where it remains until the next event. So, in MIDI you're always doomed to stair-stepping, but a dense ramp will minimize it so that the ear hears a smooth transition.

Oh, and if you aren't sure what Lines Mode means, it's in the bottom left of the MIDI Graphic Editor window. There are three modes: Bars, Lines, and Points. Each has its uses. But you only get those in the MIDI Graphic Edit Window. There's more about this subject on page two of the DP Tips Sheet.

Thanks for the reply Shooshie. That actually was drawn with the spline tool and I thought I used to be able to get a much smoother curve, not sure what's going on.

Here is spline with density of 4..I don't know if my increasingly unreliable memory is fading but I thought there used to be a more even spread of points and none of those longish flat lines using the splice and parabola. It just doesn't look right to me.
