James, I know this is off topic. Dump me to the basement at will.
Hey all! I had the wonderful experience of catching The Who when they came through Boston last Friday. I've been working with Pete for a few years now, although we had never met in person. My wife Lisa and I met Pete backstage and we hung out. Pete is the warmest, friendliest guy. It was a huge thrill.
Pete tells me he's been using Performer and DP since the mid 80s to do all his writing and production work. I've been helping him with surround sound questions recently as he's been working on remixes of Quadrophenia.
We'll put some sort of mention on the MOTU web site. I thought I'd give it a mention here at MOTUNation. If you're a Who fan and a DP user, you've got something in common!
Dave

Look at that grin. You know I'm a happy guy!

I was front row at the Albert Hall on the right hand side right next to Pete Townshend when they performed Quadrophenia in its entirety for the first time in years - it was fascinating watching him checking the chords on pieces of paper he had on a small table - he had obviously not played it in a long time. I always wondered what software he used - glad to hear its DP.

That's fantastic, Magic Dave! I had the pleasure of seeing that show in Brooklyn last Wednesday. I thought Townshend was amazing. Loved the tributes to Entwistle and Keith Moon. Daltrey was good but I think he had an off night.
Quadrophenia has always been one of my favorite Who albums. Actually one of my favorite all time albums by any artist.
Keep us posted!!!

There's irony here: PT uses DP.
This is so cool! I'm surprised I didn't know this before now! …i guess we're going to ignore the fact that old Pete's hearing famously ain't what it should be.

Pete works at 96khz. I asked him about that. His reply: "I can't hear any difference, but maybe other people can".

Interesting. I read an interview with him once where he said that even though he can't technically hear anything above 10k he regularly will find himself EQing above that and being able to perceive a difference. It speaks to the way the brain can adapt to physical disabilities.
