Which DP7 files to protect?

I just received DP8. Which DP7 support files does DP8 overwrite? I want to duplicate and store them before I install so I can easily move them back if needed. I think one of the files that gets overwritten has to do with themes and I think there might have been one other. Anyone know?
Thanks!

Save the DP7 Themes folder.
DP8 will overwrite and move them.
Return them into the DP7 folder after you installed DP8.

When you copy the DP7 versions back, you might overwrite the newer DP8 versions that won't work in DP8. You should probably just install DP8 and then download this:
http://motunation.com/files/DP7-Format-Themes.zip
I renamed the themes adding "DP7 " as a prefix, so you can just copy these into your Themes folder and they will be available to DP 7.24 without overwriting newer versions required for DP8.

Oh, I see. Many thanks, James. Much appreciated. I got 'em.

Actually, it didn't overwrite my themes. Either that, or I reinstalled them in a mindless stupor. They just no longer respond, because their version file is limited to a maximum of DP 7.2. Easily changed, but the themes no longer work the same way, so vast areas of white space now dominate our once beautiful AmpGUI themes.
I'm sure hoping that Andy fixes those. And makes them even better, utilizing the new controls that are available to him.

I think it may have overwritten the themes with themes of the same name that are no longer DP7 compatible... that's why they don't work anymore in DP7 but do work in DP8.

Oh, I get it. Yes, of course you're right. I thought they meant it was replacing AmpGUI Themes with… well… nothing. Of course it's not.

Guys, quick question.. I've been up all night tracking and I'm tired as ....
Anyway, I got DP8 yesterday and after I get a couple of hours of sleep I have to wake up and install it but I still need to be able to run DP7.
Are you guys saying that all I have to do is either what Radiogal or James suggested by keeping the Themes for both 7 and 8 and I can run both programs without doing anything else at all (no moving files, plugins, etc..?
Thanks... Nap time..

I can tell you that I've had DP7 and DP8 (64-bit mode) both open and active for the past two hours. Whatever 32-bit plugs I have that don't show up in DP8 show up in DP7. And all the new MOTU MAS plug-ins that came with DP8 show up in DP7, too.
I don't know for sure if the Themes files are the only support files effected (seems like it), but I'm not seeing any problems so far. In fact, everything is working quite smoothly, though I haven't pushed things, I'm just experimenting.

There are issues with LAME. See the other threads.
I'm scheduled to see my copy of DP 8 tomorrow. Can't wait to see what does and does not work for me. Themes was never an issue but LAME is. Some of y favorite plugs are 32bit and not likely to upgrade so we'll see...

Hey James - The Themes folder is the only MOTU folder/file that needs to be unique to each DP7 and DP8 to be able to use both versions? Just confirming before I install.
I'll have to do the same thing with my Waves plugins too. i.e. move v8 and v9 back and forth before I launch DP7 or 8.
Thanks
