It seen that dp8's install break the control surface drivers in dp7. No control surface will show in DP. Thank god I still had dp7 on another machine so I could copy mackie ctl's back. Now it working as before in dp7... PHEW!!!

That didn't happen in my machine at all.. the Matrix (which uses MCU) still works perfectly in DP8 and DP7.24
Interesting.. I have a lot of custom commands that I made in DP for the Matrix. I was a little concerned when I was installing 8 because it didn't ask me if I wanted to merge the commands like it usually does with a new install of DP. I wondered if I might have lost the commands, or my Mackie Control settings, but DP preserved everything. Now that I think of it, all my preferences made it.
When I first turned on DP8, it looked a little different than 7, but it still felt like it was "my" DP. It made me smile, knowing I don't have to start over.

I'm worried now. I'm using an MCU and have just ordered DP8. I was planning to continue using DP7.24 on some existing projects and DP8 on all new projects. Sounds like I'll lose MCU functionality. Can you explain more about copying the mackie cti's so I can take pre-emptive action?
cheers
Mike

Well I might have had a broken permission before I did my install so I'll have to reinstall again but just in case make sure you copy the whole
"YourMainHD"/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
I have some Control Surface weirdness and some Audio Export weirdness as well...
But It may just be me so backup your stuff and let me know how it goes for you...

Hello,
I 've got the same problem, on DP 8 is work and not on DP 7. The DP 8 is Master, you need to change your folder " Motu Contral Surface "
Me i uninstall DP 8 with appzapper or similar. I take a old folder "Motu Control Surface" on my old computer run with DP 7 and i replace it.
It's working.
I can't find the driver on the web, i'm lucky man because i had a old computer with DP 7 on.
If you need i can send you my folder.

It's okay I have both driver.
What I did is this:
- I setup a MOTU folder on my desktop
- in it I made 2 folders: DP7 & DP8
- Put the DP7 driver in DP7 Folder and DP8 driver in DP8 Folder
- Next to the 2 folders I added a shortcut to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MOTU Control Surface/
Now Before starting DP I OPT-Drag the right driver to the Alias next to it...
Take 3 seconds to do...

For the record, I was mistaken about this, of course.
I just don't understand why MOTU rewrote/changed the MCU driver in DP8, the Mackie protocol hasn't changed in years.. must have had something to do with going to 64 bit.
The question is, does DP8's MCU do anything different than DP7, i.e. does it have more features or better performance?

I've noticed a couple of other such oddities. I created a small test project in 8. On one of the tracks, I used Invert Phase. Opening it up in 7.24, I got the message that the plug wouldn't work. No big deal as Trim still works for that functionality. Still odd...

Unfortunately no...
My MCU's scroll wheel works sooo smoothly in Logic... and in DP I can barely use it...

I know, right? I have seen Logic's MCU implementation, and I'm jealous. Why can't DP be that robust with it?
To be fair, MCU was created with Logic in mind as the default DAW, no "overlays" necessary like with DP. My Matrix console
is a Mackie Control (among other things), but there is no DP overlay with it, so I had to convert all the commands and rewrite them manually to use DP with it. It took me a month to figure it out.
I would understand if MOTU had their own controller out there, but they don't. MOTU, now that the Eucon support will be drying up, could you
please make the MCU implementation the best it can be? Smoother scrolling, fader touch selecting of channels, handling plugin windows correctly.. I've got a list somewhere..

I tried this and it doesn't work. Only driver showing up in 7.24 is EuCon.

We've been hoping FOR YEARS. I think it just fell out of their to do list.
At this point I hope they would just open their Mackie Driver so I could pay a programmer to make me a custom MCU driver.
