Run 32-bit plugs in 64-bit DP

I found jBridgeM today. Seems like a life saver for extending the life of 32-bit plugs as long as you have a VST version. You can try it for free (goes silent after 20 minutes). Worth a shot.

I'll be grabbing a copy to see if I can keep B4 II working in DP 8/64.

Yep, this has been posted a few other places on the forum. I'll leave yours up as the header is very descriptive and helpful.

I have been using the JBridgeM for a couple days now and it works great until you have to bounce. At that time the bounce may crash or will finish bouncing but after or during the process my MOTU audio system crashes along with DP8 and the JBridge. After that happens it is impossible to start DP8 and the MOTU audio system again without restarting the computer. The work around is to record the bridged tracks to audio and then remove the bridged tracks before bouncing. I am in touch with the developer about this issue and he is unable to investigate this problem because he can't get a Demo of DP 8 to simulate these actions. Other than the bouncing problem it is still a usable product till something better comes along. I think this version of DP may be the best ever but I feel it is a shame that they missed the boat on including a built in bridge in the software much the same as Logic Pro 9 has done. Hopefully they will include a bridge in a forthcoming update!!

Why do I get the feeling that if I try to use something like this with my UAD plugins, that it would crash like a test dummy?

A few months ago I bought VEP to run LASS in Komtakt5 in 64 bit for a large film project. Now it looks like Ill be running 32 bit VIs and plugs in VEP and let DP8 handle the 64bit plugs/VIs. A welcome switch. It looks like so far VEP will be hosting only my Korg VIs on an as needed basis.

This is what we intend to do too Frank. Should be quite nice. Provided all the VEP / DP latency compensation oddities have been solved. (Which Magic has told me they were)

hi Killahurts,
I don't know if you saw my post about UA's Octo-card, it's now on JRR-shop's site.
I can't imagine them releasing the new product(& lowering the Quad, Duo etc....) without updating the line to 64bit.
I think the update is going to be quite soon, now it's version 6.3.
Can version 6.4 be far behind?

Bennie - how stable has DP8 been? I know it's still early in game. DP 7.24 has been rock solid for me on SL.

I am just going to hope that the universe all comes together soon and makes UAD software version 6.4 the 64-bit version. Wouldn't that make sense?

So, can DP8 run 63 bit plugins? With a 36 bit kernel?
Let's see, that'd be 99 bits? That's only, what, 29 bits away from the magical 128 bits, where you can load your whole career up into RAM.

Was that your 2 bits? I'm one quarter convinced.

Dan DP 8 has been rock solid for the last four days. It is much snappier and smoother and I definitely here a difference in the sound when in 64 bit. I have ran dp8 in both 64 and 32 no problems. Using Waves 9 no issues so far!! I think it may be the best DP ever!!! If there is ever a solid bridge solution it will be unstoppable. I am still a little perplexed to why MOTU didn't consider such a feature in this version though.....

Good to know - with the 'Cocoa rewrite' I thought it might be snappier. Thanks Bennie.

I am a skeptical of this claim, and wonder if you are hearing a difference simply because you expect 64-bit to sound better. I doubt that it actually sounds better... but I would be happy to be wrong.

I think that the fact that MOTU left it out, was a decision to NOT ever do it. This needed to be available with the release of the product, and not down the road. I suspect that trying to get a bridge to work reliably is part of the reason why the product was delayed by more than 6 months after the announcement early in the year, so I don't think it is worth getting our hopes up for a bridge in an updated version. I, too, am disappointed about this.
