32 bit plug in bridge for DP 8

I love Dp8!! One problem though is that you can't run 32 bit and 64 bit plugs simultaneously like in Logic Pro. Logic Pro has a bridge that allows 32bit plugs to run while running Logic in 64bit. I know this is probably a premature question but does anyone think MOTU will make this possible or is there a way to do this presently?

It doesn't look like there is. It's an "either or" situation. I will be staying in 32 bit until Altiverb 7 comes out with 64 bit MAS (they have 64 bit AU but does not transfer presets from old projects). For RAM-hungry projects, I will be starting in 64 bit. So I'll bounce back and forth for awhile...

I agree I will have to go back and forth too or use Logic which I hate.

There is a third party solution:

Personally I would run Altiverb in another application like DSP Quattro and use Soundflower or Jack OSX to port audio to and from it. I used to do this between computers to use Space Designer in Ableton Live. A slight delay on a reverb isn't that big of a deal IMO.

When Waves left MAS support behind, they provided us all with a converter to convert our MAS presets and settings to AU. Lets hope Audioease does that with Altiverb too.

It seems this app only works with vst's. DP doesn't use vst.

DP8 uses VST, AU and MAS plugins.

Guess I'll need to demo it once DP8 shows up. Its not clear to me what it does exactly. Is it an app that runs in conjunction with DP like Bidule or does it make it so the 32bit plugins show up in DP8 while its running in 64bit mode? …and is it just for VIs or could I use with my plugins? UAD-1 for instance?

This looks intriguing, I'm a bit confused(as always) ;-) whether we can also use VST's if we designate AU as our plugin preference?
If we can indeed utilize both plugin formats and this works without introducing major stability issues I'm going to try this.

Check around. This subject is trending elsewhere in the forum. The verdict is: Yes, you can use VSTs and AU at the same time. ...though you can't have the same plugin in both VST and AU running simultaneously.

Thanks DIx,
It would be great I'd a 3rd party app like Jbridge m doesn't create instability with DP8.
Even though Jbridge m is a VST, can it bridge both(different) AU and VST plugins at the same time?
The confusion never ends! lol

So far this thing is working great for me. It only bridges VST but I talked to the developer and he hopes to introduce a version for AU in the near future. It is a separate app that converts or bridges selected or all VST plugins from your library to work in DP8 in 64 bit. Once it scans your VST's they will appear in your plugin menu in the Audio Plugins preference of DP 8. You then select the ones you want to use and it will scan them just like the MAS to AU scan has always worked in previous versions of DP. Pretty simple!!

Yes, something about the concept seems like it will be a kludgy mess, but maybe not. Give it a try and let us know how/what it does. I'm curios if it can bridge to uad plugins.
