DP 8 and Waves 9

Post by hammerman »

Once again, I can't get a straight answer from Waves. Here's my question and their answer:

I currently have Waves 8. I am getting Digital Performer 8 today. Is Waves 9 now compatible with Digital Performer? I am on a Mac running 10.8.2. Thank you, Doug.
Dear Doug,

Unfortunately DP is not supported with Waves V9. Both companies are working towards renewing compatibility, but I do not have any information if and when this will happen.

In the meantime, you should not update to Waves V9, but rather stay with Waves V8, which should work fine on you new system.
MOTU or Magic Dave, can we have some clarity on this please? If I use Waves 8 with DP 8, won't I have to force DP into 32 bit?

I can confirm that DP8 is tested and compatible with Waves 9 in both 32 and 64 bit modes.

Thank you, Dave. That was my exact question, and now I don't have to ask!

I had graphic problems in Waves plugins with Retina. See those big numbers:

Image

Waves support asked me to do this:
1. Quit the application if it is currently open.
2. In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
3. In the Applications folder that opens, click the application's icon so it is highlighted.
4. Choose Get Info from the File menu.
5. Place a checkmark next to "Open in Low Resolution" to enable Low Resolution mode.
6. Close the window and double click the Application to reopen it.

It solved the problem. Also they are going to officially support DP 8 pretty soon. I have worked with DP8/Waves9 combo couple of days now without any (Waves) problems.
