I use Maschine with DP and it works fine but I not all functions work via my Maschine Micro hardware.

are you sequencing inside of maschine and playing back in dp or are you using maschine as a controller to trigger either maschine sounds or other plugins like BPM or Mach5?

I use Maschine and sequence in it, and in DP.

are you using maschine as a controller to sequence MIDI notes in dp? that is, are you able to put maschine into MIDI controller mode, arm a MIDI track, hit pads and have them record the notes in that track?

I've never used it as a controller in that way. I always use the NI VI's and other VI's through Maschine itself. (as plugins in Maschine) I'll be in the studio tomorrow, if I have time I'll try to trigger instruments via the MIDI out into DP.

cool. thanks for replying back to me. i was starting to wonder if i was the only one using maschine.
i like the way it works in standalone mode but i'm really interested in using it as a controller inside of a DAW (preferably DP) so that i can use it with BPM and Battery. there is very little info out there on maschine and DP. it's mostly logic and windows DAWs.

I just tried it and I had no problems. Just put Maschine in MIDI mode (shift & control) pick a template and keep it moving!

Didn't use MIDI cables, just usb.
Select a VI in DP, create a MIDI track that corresponds to the VI...

ok, so this is the part that confuses me.
did you use unconfigured ports? or did you use the item that shows up in audio MIDI setup?
mine shows up in audio MIDI setup as a 1 port interface.
i've tried both. i don't know why it's not working. at least i know it's working for someone.

Maschine should show up in your MIDI setup. Don't change any of the ports because MIDI will transmit/receive via usb. I just did a track in BPM (in stand alone mode) last night using Maschine's BPM template without a hitch. I never used the MIDI port on Maschine, just usb.
If it's not working for you, try swapping out the usb cable.

CWalcott -- did you ever find an answer? The thread ended without resolution. I'm having the same issue with [my new] Maschine as controller. I set up the VI in DP just like all my other VIs, then try to use Maschine as a controller rather than just creating patterns in Maschine and slaving it to DP. When I play the controller, the VI track lights up in DP and the pads trigger the right sounds, but when I go to record on a MIDI track, the notes don't enter. I've been watching all the tutorials I can find, and the steps for other DAWs seem like they should work for DP(8) but I am not successful with them.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey there, yes I was able to resolve this with DP. I'm now working on Pro Tools which has a whole different problem.
After a bunch of emails and finally a phone call, I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the Maschine software. You have to make sure to disconnect Maschine when you do this. I'm not in front of my setup right now but here's a few things that I recall.
- do not set maschine up as a surface controller.
- make a VI for Machine and MIDI tracks for each channel or group.
- you can set up individual sounds to specific MIDI channels. you have to do this for melodic instruments if you want to use more than one. right click on the sound and choose "set MIDI channel". this is not the same as the MIDI batch dialog that you can get for the group. this is an important part that stumped me for a long time. groups are more typically assigned to a channel but you can assign individual sounds in a group to a channel too.
- instantiate it like you would any other VI.
- put maschine into MIDI mode to input MIDI to DP via the pads. if the track is armed, you should be able to hear sounds when you hit the pads. if not, there's a routing problem.
