Sample Libraries for M5v3?

Anyone know the status of this? Are there sample libraries released ready to use for M5v3?
I remember reading that MOTU said they were courting content providers to have them develop native MachFive versions of the sample libraries.
Is that happening?
Now that Nick Phoenix is no longer with EastWest they should snatch him up and make him develop libraries exclusively for M5 :)

I also have the same question.

M5 3 does have excellent tools to import other formats, and to create original sampler instruments. The GUI is enjoyable to work with compared to Kontakt.

But, third party libraries are definitely needed to remain competitive.

While recently ordering the acousticsamples Bass Bundle (40% off as M5 3 user :D ), I asked about further instrument development, in particular, orchestral instruments. The reply was that they were working on a new instrument. Not sure I can mention what it is.

I'd like to have plenty of choices so as not to have to use Kontakt. Hopefully MOTU and acousticsamples will kick into hyper-speed to start putting out more sample libraries.

There are 2 long threads started by Nick
at GS & VI-control

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-co ... t-n-t.html

http://www.vi-control.net/forum/viewtop ... sc&start=0

Later EW posted a thread in their own way of not addressing Nick leaving & announce new sample libraries that most people including myself shot down & it soon died.
Jay and I don't agree on much! lol
;-)

Interesting reading & it reinforces my refusal to buy from EW since PLAY and their typical SOL forum antics of deleting posts and threads that don't praise the EW dogma.

happy reading ;-)

I do agree MOTU recruiting Nick would be great for Mach5 sample library development.
It also occured to me NI might make a run to at recruiting Nick to their team like they did with Scarbee.
I can't imagine anything rubbing salt into EW's wounds more than Nick developing Kontakt based libraries again with the strength of NI behind him.
I do think it would be a great coup for MOTU and Mach5 development but the teaming of Nick and the resources of NI would be a formidable union that would be hard to beat,IMO.
Who knows, he might be sick of all of this and just might want to do movie & trailer work, time will tell.......

Wow....What a mess.

I like the part about the lawsuit.

Too bad they can't work it out. The suits are without any real merit, so all that will happen is that the lawyers will make a ton of $ from both EW and Nick P.

Wow that would be incredible if MOTU got him to create libraries for MachV. I wish you could port all the EW stuff to Mach V. Now THAT would be slick.

I have not tried to update PLAY. Scary stuff, that PLAY. Such a ridiculous engine...

Thanks for the info.
best.

Well I still play(pun intended) my old EW libraries into Kontakt,so at least we have that ability.
fwiw, from my understanding EW/PLAY libraries are by design closed to other engine platforms so they only run in the PLAY platform, another reason to love EW. ;-)

For what it's worth I much prefer PLAY to NI. I just can't stand NI's user interfaces and I'm not a fan of the sound of their products either.

But I guess most of the EW stuff I like is produced by Nick Phoenix. But there's still a lot I don't have and they are just about to release PLAY 4 this month.

But if there were killer libraries available for M5v3 I would look at those first I suppose. But I'm not a tweaker, I want ready to use stuff, so for the libraries to be programmed for M5 is very important to me.

You might be the only person I've ever heard mention a preference to PLAY over anything! lol
I know you passionately mention your strong dislike for anything NI related whenever the topic comes up.
Granted everyone has a right to their preferences but as universally accepted as Kontakt has become and all of the Kontakt driven libraries available, what is it that created this passionate dislike for everything NI related?
I understand the GUI is not the easiest to figure out and some people hate Service Center but I honestly think NI has pushed boundaries, helped the technology move forward, have great tech support & upgrade sales etc.......
I don't always like the way they abandon some things like b4 or Kore but between Kontakt,Reaktor,Razor,Massive and Absynth and so on they've brought so many nice tools to the market.
I'm curious as your feelings for NI mirror mine for EW.
I feel like Federation vs Klingon when you post about NI! lol

Really I'm curious or should I say kurious?

Sorry to butt in, but I couldn't help noticing that you more or less answered your own question. I don't have a "passionate dislike for everything NI related" but I find the interface, the authorization, and the policy on dropping useful instruments annoying. I was happy when Garritan dropped NI player, and over time I've just stopped using some of the other VIs I have that used NI and moved to alternatives. It took me the better part of a month to get DFH2 authorized and it turned out to be a NI localization error.

You might remember when NI introduced free trial versions of their first VIs. I sent a long message back to the developers suggesting that the interface needed a lot of work. I got a long reply agreeing, and saying they would be making a lot of changes before the final release. They never did.

NI has always been an alternative, but way down the list. I've almost given in to Komplete a few times but it looks like MachFive 3 and Redmatica Sample Maker, in addition to the Garritan and IKM VIs I have, will cure me.

I obviously understand your point as I share some of these opinions but PLAY?
That's what I don't understand.
Yes some of NI's moves and procedures can be baffling but they've also brought so much to the table.
Also so many developers do like using Kontakt to run their libraries, look at all of the available choices.
I rarely hear anyone actually praising EW's move to PLAY,that's what I don't get.

Agree about Play. It's a mystery.
