Just lookin for trusted links to sites where I can find/buy a used or refurbished Mac Pro, or MBP.

Sorry, I did try the "search" but I'm on tapatalk and can't do a deeper search. Sorry to bother you guys with this. I know it's been the topic of many discussion but I ain't finding it on my silly iPhone.

I found mine on Craig's List. You can go and check them out. Better than eBay.

I found mine on the classified section of: http://www.VI-control.net, I agree with MLC that Craigslist is a good place to look for a used Mac.

If you're buying used, 1 scam store I'll tell you to avoid is Megamacs they have numerous complaints,bait & switch,sending defectives and not taking back etc....
Another GarlandComputers(eBay) has an active thread of complaints now on Gearslutz,bait & switch etc ....

If you're going refurbed the Apple Store is great & that's who I'd buy a refurb from.

Small Dog & PowerMax have good reputations for used or refurbed but I found the prices a bit to high IMO.

Right now at the Apple Store. When new models come out, the remaining old ones are sold at the Refurb Store.

Click on Store at the Apple site. Scroll all the way down, you will see the links on the bottom left under a banner that says, "Special Deals". Free shipping and you can purchase AppleCare at the same time.

These guys have been around forever and I think they have a pretty good reputation. It's a crap-shoot as to what they have in stock, though.

Refurb units direct from apple....

I have bought from Shreve, Small Dog, PowerMax and the big one in Utah that I can't recall right now.

No complaints with any of them but the Apple Refurb Store is often less expensive and the free shipping is quick. Another thing, if you see it on the web site, it is in stock - when someone buys the last unit, it's gone.

With my wife and daughters' recent Macs, I was able to buy AppleCare at the EDU discount, compare the Refurb store to EDU pricing on the new unit and make my best deal - and then head back to Refurb to pick up a Time Capsule. If you do it in the right order, you can keep them all in the same shopping cart - if not, the person at the 800# can help you.

If Apple's own refurb selection is thin (because of recent increased demand), these may offer some unique deals. One advantage is that such used vendors will inspect the gear before reselling it. I would recommend getting some sort of warranty, if available, since repairs can add dramatically to the cost far above the price of a service contract. Craig's list and ebay are not to be overlooked, but any buyer protection or repair coverage post-sale may be limited.

Figure I'd revive this thread as I'm looking (still) for a refurbished or used Mac Pro 3.33hz. Where are people looking these days? And why is eBay not recommended by some?

I do realize the links Mr Frodo left above. Just wondering if there are any other places people are looking? And again, why not eBay? Happy turkey day!

So did you buy locally or have it shipped MLC? Did yours come with a warranty? Trying to find a 3.33 6 core, but seeing prices that vary from $1500-4000. Not sure where to look for a trusted purchase.

Local. As is but from a clean, reputable studio. It can with a lot of extras but I did trash all the programs left on the drive. Actually wiped all the drives (it came with 3: 1TB x2 and 1 500GB plus and extra optical DVD burner and graphic card update.)

Not a single issue in over 2 years.
