Hi!
I've just bought my Motu Traveler mk3 that I'm going to use when performing a piece for saxophone and live electronics.
I'm very new to using electronics when performing music and It's quite short of time before I'm supposed to use this equipment in concert.
Therefore I'm looking for someone to (very basic) explain to me how to get My computer with Max Runtime to play through my Motu where I also have my sax microphone connected.

I've been able to plug in my microphone and control it with Cue mix, but I don't get any sound from Max going to my loudspeaker.
I do get a lot of "attention sounds" from FB, Mail etc that seems to be going the way I (try to) send Max.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to correct it.
Also I seem to still be using the microphone on the computer despite the fact that I've changed the sound in preferences to go through Motu/Firewire.

Sorry, never heard of Max Runtime so can't help much. Usually there's a setting somewhere in the application (preferences for example) where you can choose what output to use...

You should have a Max Runtime Patch that someone has already built for you.
(You cannot change the audio inputs and outputs directly in 'Max Runtime' without a patch).
There should be an 'adc' or 'dac' object which you can double click on which will open
the 'audio status' window. This will allow you to change the input/outputs in the
drop down menu. Or at least another 'umenu' drop down menu should have been
programmed into the patch.

So, first do you have a Max Patch built for you?

Next, locate the objects above (I don't think other objects open the 'audio status' menu.

Also, check the cycling 74 forums, which might be of use as well.

If you need any changes made to the patch, I have Max 5 (not 6) and use it with an 828. PM me if you find that the code needs to be revised. But yeah, double-clicking the ~dac object (if he supplies a the object and not just a play button) will give you the option to select your output device. There might be a menu item at the top (DSP Routing or something like that), that may let you change it as well, but the Runtime environment is considerably stripped down, so I'm not sure. Whoever wrote the patch should really bundle it into a standalone executable, for portability and security, especially when sharing with non-Max users.
