MOTU compatibility between older and newer devices

Hello all.
I am running a PCI-424 system into Windows XP SP3 and I have an external 2408 MK III connected Thru AudioWire. So far, I am pretty happy with it.
Now I’ve been offered at a good price an older system, a MK I device that is currently connected to a PCI-324.
My question, before trying to go further and buy, is: will the MK I be compatible with my PCI-424? Will I be able to connect an older MK I device thru AudioWire cable to my PCI-424 and have it working “on the fly”?
It would be a cheap and easy extension to my studio, but if I won’t be able to interconnect an old and a new system, then it would be worthless.
Thank you for your attention.
