from Greg:
As you may have heard, we just released a major upgrade for CoreBass Cherry, re-released as Cherry Electric Bass. We've combined the fingered, slapped, and picked editions into a single, powerful library, as well as adding two new articulations: muted fingered and muted picked. The simulated dynamics have also been improved using new samples, and we also implemented a sympathetic resonance system for increased realism.

New features include:

- Combined all Cherry articulations into a single library
- Two new articulations: muted fingered, muted picked
- New dynamics samples for realistic string buzz on high velocity
- Entirely new engine and interface

*also if anyone here besides me has the entire line.........
note:this is probably for MH ;)

As an owner of the entire line of CoreBass Cherry libraries, we're pleased to offer you the new Cherry Electric Bass free of charge! :woohoo:

Thanks for the info. I think the "MH" comment was for me? :-) This is actually the one Orange Tree library that I don't own. I may change that status now. I've been very impressed by Greg's recent libraries and updates and consider Orange Tree to be the "most improved" vendor of 2011.

Yeah it was for you lol
I guess Bass being your main instrument this is understandable but I must admit I am surprised, I thought you had this.
Agreed, Greg is one of the best developers and script writers out there.

Nope, I have Pear and Strawberry but seem to have chopped down the Cherry Tree.

Gotta say this is a great upgrade and a bad ass bass right out of the box,WOW!!
Instantly playable as well as extremely responsive with a really nice presence & sound for a VI.
Greg is also updating Evolution Electric Guitar(should be out in a few weeks).
If this kind evolution also happens with the new EEG, I think there will be many happy Orange Tree users,I'm juiced!

I own their Evolution Electric Guitars, which are very fine. Looking forward to the upgrade/update when available. (By the way, if you have the time check out RealGuitar, RealLPC and RealStrat by Music Lab. I use them often.)

A while ago, I was looking into purchasing Orange Tree's "Iconic Bass Jaco". I love the fretless bass sound. (I'm also a big Jaco fan.) But Orange Tree currently has their "Cherry Electric Bass" on for sale. Hmmmmm. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for the info. . .

Yeah; this is the stuff!

From the demos, I can tell that the notes were sampled on the correct string for best tone and phrasing. The DI signal is very transparent. Dynamic range is very wide. Only the highest notes sound very keyboard-ish to me, along with octave leaps. Probably a user performance issue.

Which 5-string bass was used for these sessions? Sounds almost like a Lakland.

He doesn't mention the bass but whatever it is it is amazing! So punchy!
Greg is posting actively about this on KVR.
What's really cool, some people are requesting various tweaks and preferences to him there and he is actually creating personalized individual mods for users, so keyswitchs etc... respond to the users preference.
IMO Greg is one of the most talented and accessible developers I have ever encountered.
I am drooling, waiting to see what the EEG update brings to the table.
brb : need a new bib lol

It has a similar to tone to some of the Lakland basses, it's a Schecter Stiletto Elite. It was sampled completely DI, and honestly, it's one of those few basses that makes everything you play sound good. :)

I'm a HUGE fan of Schecter Guitars, but haven't tried all that many of their basses yet. I'll have to keep my eye out for the Stiletto Elite -- it certainly records well! Very articulate and punchy.
