Upgrade to Snow Leopard from Leopard?

With all the talk about whether or not to upgrade to Lion, it got me thinking that perhaps I should at the very least upgrade to Snow Leopard. I am currently running 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro early 2008 dual quad 2.8hz.

Can anybody advise as to whether or not this is generally a good idea? Will I see benefits in speed and/or track count? Will it introduce weird Gremlins into my system? Right now I am running Kontakt, Play, Ethno, Machfive 2, Trillian, Alchemy (love it!) and other assorted plugs and libraries. Right now, I am having a major problem with the latest Play update and hanging notes in DP, but other than that I am stable. I also believe that the SL upgrade would require me to upgrade to Ethno 2.

Any other positives/negatives or other thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated.

I think most users will agree that upgrading to SL 10.68 would be a good move.SL is an improved, slimmed down Leo.
Many people myself included are happily residing in SL10.68 without any need or desire to move to Lion.

Thanks for the quick responses. Can either of you confirm that I will have to upgrade to Ethno 2 if I go to SL? Also, were there any specific problems or spcecific benfits you found with the upgrade?

Any other user expriences would be much appreciated.

I found it useful to upgrade my Adobe Suite and MS Office. They still work under SL with Office 2008 and CS 2 but crashing was getting old. Fortunately my wife is an educator and the Adobe stuff was reasonably priced. Office Home Edition is about $150 or less. I also moved from a G5 at the same time as moving to SL so speed and other stuff is obviously much faster on an 8-core.
