dropping soundbites to make new tracks: meas 1,793??
annoying bug(?) in one of the latest DP updates... when i drop a soundbite onto the blank area in the tracks window to automatically make a new track with that sound, it places the soundbite at measure 1,793... and i have to manually drag it back to measure 1.
any workaround for this? a preference i'm missing? anyone else experiencing this?
thanks

This has recently been discussed, search for "timestamp". The gist of it is, if you drag and drop a SB which has a timestamp, it will be placed in DPs time line at the location defined by the SB's timestamp. For example, if a SB was recorded in another DP project at bar 1 and the start time of that project was 01hr;0min;0secs, the timestamp will be 01hr;0min;0secs. If you then drag and drop the SB into your new project where the start time is 0h;0min;0sec, your SB will be found at 01hr;0min;0secs, one hour into the track!

thanks for the reply.... i'm mixing an album for an artist and he has supplied all of the audio, i believe exported from PT... he must have had time stamps on them for roughly 1:00:00:00 for some reason. probably nothing i can do about it except drag them back to 1.

I open a blank audio track, mono or stereo depending on the soundbite type, and drag the new file onto the track. Or, if I forget to do that and the file ends up 1 hour "out", I "ctrl select" the file in the sequence window and "throw" it to the left. It ends up at bar 1 where you wanted in the first place.

yeah, i mean.. before i discovered a while ago that you could drag soundbites to automatically make tracks, i'd make a track manually and add the bite... it's quite a timesaver, though, when dealing with 30+ tracks to have it automatically do it as it creates the right KIND of track (mono/stereo) and names it! but, yes, it's not that big of a deal.. just wondering if it was a bug or something i was overlooking.

I mixed a project in DP where the tracking was originally done at another studio in PT. Even though the start time was set to 00:00:00.00 (in the PT project), all files brought into DP showd a time stamp of 01:00:00.00. I think it's a Pro Tools bug. The good news is they all had the same time stamp, so it was a simple matter to select all and move them.

I select the track and bring it up in the event list. Then type 1/0/000 in the SB start. 5 seconds per tracks...
