Change Sequence in Sequence or Project Menu?

Hi,
Two issues i'm having which I'm unable to find the answer to, easily. Hope you can help or link me up to an existing posting.
I went from DP 5 to 7. And in what was occurring DP5 carried forward to DP7. It might be how things work by design and I'd like to know if it's something I can do to control or understand it better.
1. When I switch to another Sequence directly in the Sequence window, it doesn't change in the Project Menu>Sequence menu. In fact, my sequence tracks and mixing board settings don't change.
Seems like the only way I've been able to toggle between Sequences, is by making the change first, from the Projects menu.
This occurs for all of my projects (i have about 30)
2. The Control Panel, no longer has the transport slider, I liked this because it allowed me to click and drag. From what I can tell this changed in DP6 and to get up to speed with where things are, I'd like to know where the option to do this is? I read the What's New in 6 & 7, but didn't find it.
Thanks for your input.
