Mackie Control v1 and DP7: MIDI communication issues

Search didn't seem to turn this up, so:
Does anyone know of any conflicts using a Mackie Control w/v1.1 software and DP7 (on Mac OS X 10.7)?
The Mackie is connected via a FastLane USB MIDI connector. I'm getting the issue where MIDI/fader information is sent to the Mackie, but I can't send information back to DP.
I've encountered this issue before, but everything seems set up as before. I may be missing something, or is the Mackie just no longer compatible w/this version of its firmware and the latest DP?
I'd really appreciate it, as I need to know if I need to get a new control surface, or am just missing something obvious in my DP setup.
More information on request. Any/all input welcome!
Thanks everyone!

You can get v1.2 upgrade software for the Mackie here:
http://www.mackie.com/products/mcu/mcu_upgrade.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm running a Mackie Control via MTP AV, controlling DP7.24 and everything is fine as long as I tell both Audio MIDI Setup AND DP's Control Surface Setup exactly which MIDI ports are connected to Input and Output.

mjc: Thanks!
After getting your answer, and looking at the Mackie download again, I set up my installation of DP on a new machine. It works flawlessly. I didn't even need to install the Mackie firmware update.
One thing I did run into, however:
On each old project that I open, I have to go to each Audio Hardware Setup > [item] open > ok in order to have the control surface work AND hear the audio out of the 896.
Apologies if I jumped the gun. I had this problem on my old mac, so I thought the problem would be migrated along with my programs and settings when setting up my new(er) machine. I guess not!
Thanks again

paulk,
As an experiment, I've just opened a project that has lain dormant for seven years. My hardware setup has changed radically since then, but DP recognised the correct audio interface and communicated the fader settings to the MCU as soon as the project loaded. Once I'd remembered to turn on the monitors (

) playback was flawless - within the limits of the project, which had lain dormant for good reason!
DP should retain your hardware settings as global preferences (if that's the right phrase), not as settings within each project. Check that Audio/MIDI Setup is accurately representing your setup, particularly the default audio device(s) for Input and Output. Check these also in System Preferences - that's where you set the default device(s). Also check the settings in your DP default project template - New Project.
As far as the Mackie firmware upgrade goes - I've encountered no downside, nor seen any posts about problems following an upgrade, but if it ain't broke.....

I used to have this exact same problem. I've changed my MIDI interface and haven't had any problem since...

Interesting! I use a MOTU FastLane USB to handle the MIDI connection. I had been thinking about upgrading for two reasons:
1: This version of the MCU isn't able to control ProTools (I know: but I need the compatibility) without the upgrade kit, which doesn't seem to be available anymore.
2: Trying to get a non-MIDI control surface. Seems like it could save some of the aggravations I've experienced in the past.
Thanks for the extra info
