Aside from the very appealing scripted instruments, X-treme FX and the Biosphere stuff, is the rest of the content what was available in v2?

Nope. Seem all new to me and the editing and searchable browser are game changers. Truly worth every penny!

Really good to hear that (as in my finger is twitching on the purchase now button

)
In the meantime, I found this comment by otristan who apparently is on the UVI developer team: "The new versions only include a small subset of version 1 & 2 sound libraries. The GM like part. This part has been enhanced in M5v3 and now uses some scripting and macro knobs."
So it essentially looks like all new content plus a select subset of the previous library.
Thanks
...finger twitching has ceased...

I found a lot of the overlap in MachFive3's library and the other UVI soundbanks I already owned. I had bought Plugsound pro, Synthology, and Xtreme FX bundled in the Producer Pack a couple years ago. Biosphere and Synthology seem very similar. And the MachFive3 loops and sounds seems very similar to Plugsound pro's library.
Really the value (to me) comes in the redesigned GUI and the scripted instruments (telematic, jbass, upright, star drums).

What can you do with the scripts on the drums?
