Hi GrouP:

More and more ITs coming down to vocals... even in my equipment choices, whether its a new Daw system or a keyboard work station, its about the vocals and about recording..

I believe the better I get at understanding how to record vocals in DP, The choices of gear opens up to me.... Or closes in a positive way... Knowing how to create the same reverb wash Splash in DP that I could get from a Korg Kronos, eliminates that need for the Kronos... at least for me... Im finding that if I can do everything in DP , I can stop at the computer... I don't need intensive choices by way of more and more hardware...

So, I would like to ask, How do you record successful vocals in DP... What are you favorite techniques for success..

I have read Tweak heads and SOS and Future Producers and other stuff on producing a good vocal track, I would like to know how the DP community does things with Performer...

Thanks...

In my experience great vocals come down to the following simple equation every time:

Great Singer + Great song + Decent mic and Eq = amazing recording.

DP simply captures what you record. And has plenty of EQ & effects to accentuate it in a mix.

IMHO no amount of equipment or process can make up for lacking a great vocalist. I always allocate the majority of any budget to session singers. (and lattes of course)

Other than that, there are tons of "How to capture vocals properly" tutorials out there. Google around and you will find them.

Good luck and happy tracking!
