Sending MIDI messages via DP6

Hey guys
Is it possible for DP6 to send program change or CC messages to a remote device on certain beats within a sequence?
I would like to automate the bypass state and program changes of an external FX unit with MIDI during a live performance.
Any ideas??
thanks

Hi Johnnyg88,
I believe you can, by placing CC and system exclusive messages at a specific measure/beat in the project/sequence and then, DP will sent those messages to the external EFFX unit.
Check the manual for the external unit, to see what MIDI messages it responds to.
I used to do that with an harmonizer (VoiceWorks)

You'll have to pardon my inexperience, but how do I place these specific messages where I want them??
Thanks

Do you have a manual?

Yes I do, I'm just not sure where to look. I'm familiar with programming MIDI Instrument sequences, but there are so many MIDI functions that I'm not 100% certain on what they do. I may even already know how to do what I'm asking I just don't know it yet
I'll search into the book more.
Thanks guys

Do you know the program change number and value required by the FX unit? Will it send that Control Change value through MIDI if you hit its bypass button? If so, that would be the easy way; just record a track as you hit the bypass button, and it would send the CC# which DP6 would then record into the MIDI track. But I have my doubts that this FX unit will send MIDI. SO, do you know what CC number is required to operate the bypass? If so, you have some options. You can simply insert them using the drawing tools (pencil tool), selecting the CC# in the menu at the bottom left of your MIDI Graphic Edit Window. The object selected becomes the object that the pencil will insert.
Another way is to record your sustain pedal on your synth. Push it down and up in time with the desired bypass pattern. Then use the REGION/REASSIGN CONTINUOUS DATA menu to change CC#64 to the desired CC for your bypass.
There are other methods, some of which would involve Custom Consoles. With custom consoles you could actually create a button that sends the bypass data while responding to any MIDI trigger. Thus, you could decide on any MIDI note, pedal, fader, button, or other MIDI stimulus to control the FX bypass, then send it in real time when you so desire.
There are many ways to do simple things like this. I've only described a few, but one can get very creative in how to accomplish this if you know the data you need to send. Truthfully, you would not find this specifically in the manual, but it's really basic stuff, so you would do well to learn the manual anyway.

Thanks shooshie!
I've yet to purchase an FX unit for this because I wasn't sure if I could even pull off what I want to do.
Now that I know it's possible, I'll start looking at FX units. I'm sure the manual of whatever unit I purchase will state which function responds to which MIDI command. I used to have a TC unit that would've been perfect for this!
Thanks again
