Looking for an audio application to convert several folders of mp3 files to aiff in a single batch process and not just one at a time.

Recommendations please.

QuickTime Pro could do that. I haven't tried QuickTime 10 to see if it can do more than one at a time.

I was just looking at Barbabatch

http://www.audioease.com/Pages/BarbaBatch/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But it's quite expensive, so.....................

............. try opening a new DP session, set it to AIFF and drag all the MP3s into DP's soundbites window. Let DP do it's thing, and that should be that, the session will have an Audio files folder with all the converted files.

Cheers

Stephen

DOn't be fooled, it ain't just for video. Batch convert works fine on MP3 to AIFF.

This program is the best kept secret on the Mac!

Open batch export, drag your files into that window, do your settings, and off you go.

Works great in every kind of conversion, including resizing a video. Use it all the time.

I have Amadeus Pro, and their batch functionality works great.

Just had a thought...could you do this in DP? In a new project, drag/drop your mp3 files to the SB window or even onto the SE. I think as long as your prefs were set to the right file format (and interleaved), and to import audio into your Audio Files folder, you'd have a folder of all your converted mp3s in that Audio Files folder.

Thanks to one and all for the excellent recommendations and heads up instructions.

Used DP7 for this job and it is sooo simple and effective. Therefore no need to buy Barbabatch at this time.

Tried Amadeus Pro but  could not figure it out and did not have the time to plow thru the instructions or head to their forum.

Thanks again.

For those that have it, audiofinder is great for this too.
There is also a program called "Max"http://sbooth.org/Max/
works great but haven't been updated in a while so can be buggy at time. But it's free.

Glad DP worked for you - I thought it would! And about Amadeus - yes it seems easy to me now, but it didn't seem the most intuitive to me when I first learned the function. So I get what you were saying there.

Just discovered that Amadeus Pro version 2 ( recently released ) has a huge fix for this type of job whereby you can actually drop a file or folder to a designated box and it works.

ifully understand that developers have to make some money but for me the upgrade price is not realistic. Although having said that since i have an open wallet for software purchases no doubt i will upgrade and pay the $$$$.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!

You don't need to spend a penny for batch export.

Do you have Amadeus already, and would get in for the upgrade to 2.0? If you have the Pro version, 1.x, then that batch function is already there. If you have Amadeus II (not pro), then you're right, it's a big upgrade. I'm not pulling the trigger on it over here yet, and the dev is getting some complaints about the upgrade price over at MacUpdate.

He was able to take care of this in DP, so he doesn't really need that program either.

Thanks for mentioning it again, though. I'll take a look at it myself!
