I have a pair of original 896's. One of them has a couple of annoying problems that may be hardware issues, or may be me misusing them.
First off, its headphone/main out has a high-pitched tone all the time. Could this be an artifact of hooking the two 896's together? I didn't do anything about setting up a system clock or anything, do I have to do that? All I did was plug the firewire of one 896 into the other one.
Second, channels 6 and 8 are very, very faint. I have to boost the hell out of them to hear anything, and when I do that I get lots of background noise and electronic hum. I don't see how this could be something I did, it happens whether or not I have both 896's hooked up.
Can an 896 be repaired or is it just not worth it? I do have 14 working channels, so maybe I should just call it a day.
Thanks in advance for any help.
