TT 5 is ok with one exception. Back up thoroughly before you remove the eDrive on a remote hard disk. I had to re-format an external drive after such an operation two weeks ago. Since the only other thing on the remote was Time Machine, it was a minor annoyance but, when it wouldn't mount, neither Disk Utility, Disk Warrior nor TechTool was able to repair the drive - a re-format in Disk Utility made it whole again.

TT 6 is a waste of money IMO - I paid for the upgrade but it added no useful features as far as I am concerned except that you are now licensed to run it on up to 3 computers. Its two big new features: You can install an eDrive without booting from the DVD is an un-documented feature in TT 5; you can clone a drive - something available in freeware such as SuperDuper! $44 I will never see again, oh well...

I use TT to create eDrive partitions on remote drives so I can boot up and run diagnostic tools from them. It is also the best tool I have used to diagnose memory problems. I like the ability to restore items trashed in the last two weeks - much quicker than going to Time Machine. I cannot say that it or Disk Warrior has ever fixed a problem that I had with a Mac.
