Original 896 and new 828mk3 not playing nice

Hello all, first post here. Here is the situation. I just got the 828mk3 Hybrid and am trying to daisey chain via firewire. I can get the two to talk together, but for some reason can not get both of them to use each of its adat opical outs together. If I power down the 896 and leave the 828mk3 to run by itself, the opticals work. They don't when the 896 is on. They both will send the analogue out (8+8) from each unit. I am running Sonar 5 Producer in ASIO, using an AMD 64 4400+ with a PCI Firewire 400 card that has the TI chip.However, when I look in my audio setup in Sonar for my out put drivers, there are eight of them that say audio driver disabled, yet I can see all of my adat and analogue outputs activated for both the 896 and mk3. Have never had a problem with the 896 for 5 years till now. I have loaded the latest drivers that came with the 828mk3. I did have to buy a 9 pin to 6 pin cable to go from the 828 into the 896. I have also tryed going direct into the PCI card on each unit as it has three inputs for fire wire. Same issues happen. I am trying to utilize all my out puts (24 adat+16 analogue) as to do a mix on an external board. Am I missing something here as far as clocking or is it a mismatch, or maybe do I have to reverse the chain? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am running WindowsXP Service Pack 3, with a driver version of sp 1 on the firewire card. Found that work around here on the boards. Thanks
