Disable AU's in Garage Band?

Hi:

I sometimes use Garage Band as a quick sketch pad, rather than having to open a full DP7 project.
Recently, I purchased Waves' Rennaisance Comp, so I had to download the full Waves V8 installer. Now every time I open GB, it wants to do a full AU scan. When it comes to the Renn Maxx plugins, it states that they need to be authorized. (the ones I didn't purchase) Well, what I do to get rid of the error messages is to hit a combination of "authorize", "back" and "quit".

This takes on average about 15 mins to scan each missing plug and properly disable it, then move to the next one.

Thing is, I don't even use AU's in GB. Looked everywhere. I would love to just disable them altogether Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ant

This is the wrong tree. Try barking over ay Apple Discussions or the vendor with whom you are having a problem. Just a random thought...

So you don't need these plugins to be available anywhere, GB or DP?

If that's the case, just go to the components folder and delete them, or create another folder on the same level as components called "components disabled" and move them.

More than likely, the plugins in the root components folder:

Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plugins > Components

Hope this helps!

Matt

Good suggestion! Also, when you start DP you can hit the OPTION key and select what you want loaded. Save it as a set and DP will load what you want, not everything in the folder.

Actually, I still want them in DP. Just not in GarageBand. I'l try MLC's suggestion, though.

Or I could just forget about GB. Might be easier.......

Thanks, guys! :sorry:

If you have DP, GB is pretty useless unless you like using their loops (which I believe can be used in DP). I also have a theory about stuck notes in DP and GB.

GB is the oNLY app that let's you set the MIDI buffer size. Since it is an Apple product, it may set this globally and as a result sets the buffer for all apps. Not everyone agrees with that theory, but since setting GB's buffer to high and deleting the app, stuck note are a thing of the past for me.

Might be a coincidence. Whatever... works for me.
