DP Graphic Edit Waveform Size Won't Go Above "Large"
HI Folks,
I have an odd problem. Bringing a file from an older version of DP (1998) into the more modern version for the purpose of using the pitch correction tools.
The problem is:
The graphic edit window's waveform display Size
will not display at any Size bigger than "Large".
Which is far too small to do the work . . .
The larger Sizes are still on the list,
but selecting them doesn't change
the actual Size to any bigger than the "Large" selection.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
This is the same with that Sequence,
whether I create a new audio Track,
or work with the imported audio Tracks.
If I Import that sequence Chunk into a Sequence where those displays are working properly,
with other Sequences displaying all their Size choices properly-
That older Imported Sequence still behaves the same-
not allowing the larger waveform display Sizes.
I'm stumped.
Has anyone else had this problem ?
What is the fix ?
Thanks very much for your time !

The graphic editor doesn't display audio waveforms. It's only for MIDI editing. Do you mean the sequence editor?

Hi bricker,
Thanks very much for your response.
Yes, sorry for the confusion of terms.
"Sequence Editor" is how the graphic editor for audio waveform pitch control window is titled.
And that is where this problem exists.
Have you, or anyone, experienced this situation ?
Thanks for your help.

Re: DP Graphic Edit Waveform Size Won't Go Above "Large"
Yes, I had the exact same problem not too long ago. No one else seemed to have it though.
For me when I loaded up D.P. with a template containing a lot of complex track folders it restricted my track size to approximately the large size.
I really had no workaround for this. But when I deleted the track folders I could resize tracks to any size.
I don't know if that helps or not.

It sounds like we have had a very similar issue.
There are a great many MIDI tracks in this Import.
And the various audio tracks have both sophisticated routing and plugin processing.
Forgive me-
I'm not sure what you mean by "deleted the track folders" ?
Sorry-
I've been using Perf/DP since 1989, but-
I may be a bit behind the current terminology.
What do you mean by "track folders" ?
Where would I find them ?
Did this procedure allow you
to use the Imported audio
and all their tracks' Graphic Editing size variations eventually ?
Thanks for your help !

Hi
I think what you want is on page 322 of the owners
manual "Vertical Waveform Zoom". That should
make your track bigger for working with pitch
automation. That's what I use so I can see to move the
pitches around.
Good Luck

Re: DP Graphic Edit Waveform Size Won't Go Above "Large"
What happens when you manually drag the track size? Does it stop at the same size? You said this is an old file. I'm wondering if it has something to do with DP changing it's method of waveform rendering in recent versions. You could try deleting the analysis files, thus forcing DP to re-analyze. Or you could try creating a new project and loading the chunks from the old one.
BTW, what version of DP and OS are you running?
Scooter, just wondering. Was your template from an older version of DP as well?

Re: DP Graphic Edit Waveform Size Won't Go Above "Large"
Hi Folks!
Thanks much for all your helpful input with my problem.
Unfortunately, none of those techniques were successful in overcoming the problem.
But, I have found a workaround:
Simply Copy the audio tracks to a New Chunk
Presto, all the sizes work properly . . .
It's not ideal, but it works for me in the situation I'm addressing.
I should note, if I copy all the tracks in the Sequence to a New Chunk-
the Size bug still exists.
So I settled with just the audio tracks I wanted to edit.
Also, as for the mystery of Track Folders-
the DP version I'm using doesn't have them.
A friend of mine who has the latest version of DP
has confirmed that the same situation exists in that version with these files as well.
Thanks again for all your help !
