I bought a Used MacPro: advice appreciated

I bought a used MacPro I am getting next week!! :woohoo:
Some advice would be appreciated.
2008 2.8 4 core MacPro it already has 24 gigs of Ram
I ordered from OWC 2 identical WD 500gig hds(black)7200rpm 32 mb cache SATA2

It is coming with the original Leopard disc that came with the Mac,I am thinking about getting the complete Snow Leo box set(not Snow leo upgrade) and installing this instead.
So if I do this I will not even put Leopard on the machine.
Is not having the original O.S; installed that the 2008 Mac was designed to have a bad idea?
I expect having a leaner boot drive without older O.S. installs could be beneficial,is this a bad assumption?
Will this limit me with troubleshooting in case of a problem?

Is there an advantage to having the original system disc that came w/ the Mac available?
Are there advantages of using Time Machine over a 2nd cloned boot drive?

What SL version are people happy with 10.65 or.66?(leery of 10.67 font issues etc.....)
advice appreciated as always.
Thanks
KG

The Snow Leo upgrade disk is all you need. It's the OS the intel chip was designed for (well, really, 10.7 but that's going to be a while).

If you use music notation at all, do not upgrade to 10.6.7, go to 10.6.6 instead - there is a font bug in 10.6.7.

Thanks for the reply, the info I have gathered and maybe I am misinformed.
I have been under the impression you need to upgrade from Leo to use the SL upgrade disc.I want to avoid installing Leopard and just install Snow Leopard.
Thanks
