I post the solution here:

To cut a long story short, the guilty was the MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle on my Macpro.

I've tryed the VCC on my Macbook Pro and the VCC worked just fine on this machine!!

After investigation on the MacBook Pro the version of the MAS AudioUnit is: version 1.7.0 (35805)
On my Macpro the version of the MAS AudioUnit is: version 1.7.0 (42086)

The original plugin is located in the Mas folder in the hardrive library.
Here is the path: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS/
You should see the MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle in it.
If you "get info" (command - I) on the original, please check what version number do you have.

If you have the (42086) version, you can download the (35805) version with the link down below and try it.
It may be wise to first make a copy of your original MAS AudioUnit before making the swap (I.E. copy it in another folder on the desktop)

I swear that MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle has been at the heart of problems in the past... can't remember why specifically, but I feel bells ringing..

Yep, worked perfectly! David is our hero! My concern is that it breaks something else that I haven't thought of by going backwards with the MAS Audio Support bundle. And if it doesn't, of course, it begs the question..

Also, the newest version of VCC (1.06) is better with the CPU, no question.

Stephen, I know you're mixing an album now too.. just wanted to know if you had tried the Air Windows plugin "Console" yet? I have it and I've been comparing it to the "US A" console type on VCC today, which is my favorite setting for the project I'm doing. They're both great in different ways- the Air Windows is very deep and spacious, but not quite as powerful and rich as the US A on the Slate plug. The AW plugin is also substantially less expensive and is very CPU efficient, so you can use a sick number of them. It doesn't emulate a specific console, but it operates in much the same way as VCC, with a channel plug and a buss plug. Selecting one of these has been difficult for what I'm doing now..

Of course, if you need to get that wide punchy SSL 4000 sound, or that super fat Neve, the VCC is clearly the way to go.

I look at the Air Windows plugin as a "fifth flavor" in my console emulation palette.

Cheers!

For all of us that have not bought into this plug, if anyone would consider posting A / B comparisons between the settings and also w/o, we would not object.

on pages 6 and 7 of this thread on Gearslutz...
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... ole-6.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
the creator of the Airwindows plugs posts quite a few example files of different combinations of his plug ins. especially page 7, it's a good way to get a feel for what might suit you. all the
Airwindows is unlimited demo, it's got a cutout every minute or so. but u can see how it sounds on your own stuff.

i personally love the Airwindows plugs, and i use them with VCC almost always. i just try different stuff and they seem to complement each other pretty well. VCC, Airwindows(Console, Bus Colors, Desk, To Tape and sometimes Channel2) and UAD Studer have made a huge difference in how i mix recently. to me, at least, i've played before/after for people and maybe they don't hear a difference or they might sometimes like the version that i don't, but, to me, i know i like the effect these plugins have been having.

i don't stick to one combination of these plugs across the board. i've been finding myself varying according to bus. but i could imagine settling into one favorite combination eventually, and leaving it alone pretty much.

and thanks to Grigri for this solution!
this has been bugging me since they first started demoing VCC. a workaround was possible on my setup, but this is so much better and easier. thank you!
i actually had both (39387) and (42086) in my folder...
the one u posted about fixed it tho. but it might have had some effect on my Automap functionality. i gotta test still, but regardless, group functionality is way more important with VCC.

Yes David, thanks SO much again!

Hey Steven, this will make it a lot easier for SSD and MOTU to get everything cleared up, eh?

BTW, I just got my iLok 2 from you in the mail today, thanks for that!

yes I think this will allow us to solve the issues some were having with other SD plugins!

Hopefully many of you will be receiving your iloks within the next few days. We would love to hear your before and after mixes, and to submit them to our VCC Audio demos page, send them here: vccdemo@stevenslate.com

Thanks!

Very cool that you guys helped us figure out how to make VCC run smoothely in DP. And glad you are enjoying the sound of the plugin on your mixes!

Hey Steven... What's very cool is when someone of your stature comes to this forum and is as helpful as you have been! I think I can speak for this forum when I say that is very much appreciated. I own a number of your products. I just love my Steven Slate Drums EX and bought FG-X recently and am thrilled with it! Thanks for being so accessible and demonstrating such a genuine interest in the needs of the Digital Performer user community!

I'm glad a solution was found. I feel I was a little unfair in the other thread, not that anyone noticed or cared. But regardless, I felt kind of bad about it afterwards. I don't like to get in the way of someone doing their thing the best they can. So I apologize for my remarks.

Anyway, I'm in. I just purchased VCC and look forwared to getting the iLok2 so I can use it.

I can just download and install 1.6, right? I don't have to download any of the other releases do I? I won't install until I get the iLok2.

Thanks,

Dan Worley
