Hi guys,
I was a long time user of Digital Performer, and have not used it in ages ....I am able to get an upgrade for $195 .....I have not had a version of D.P. that allowed me to go into an Intel Mac , and I was wondering if when I get the upgrade will I get the full version that I can load directly into my Mac Pro ( Intel Mac ) AND , will I get the full hard copy manual ? .....Thanks for your time ....Sincerely, Jim

Not sure exactly what you're asking but the latest version of DP is 7.22 and my personal experience is that it's one of the best versions I can ever remember. Not to mention, I think you'll love the Themes feature. Comp Tool is also awesome. It runs fine on any Intel Mac. I am using it with latest version of Snow Leopard. I think you should get he upgrade. You won't be sorry.

Hi James ,
Thanks for the reply ...I DO want to get the update , but what I am asking is
1) Will I get a hard copy manual with the update ?
2) Is the update a full featured version of D.P. 7 ?
I will have NOTHING loaded into the Intel Mac that this software will be loaded into ...Thanks again for your help ....Jim

Synthnut,
If I understand what you are asking correctly:
1) Yes, you will get a hard copy manual with the upgrade.
2) Is the upgrade fully featured D.P7? They will ship you DP 7.2, the latest version.
Don't quote me, but I believe that it is a fully featured DP 7 which you do not need to
have any previous versions loaded on your new computer in order to install. (At least that is what it has been like for me)
Hope this addresses your questions. Yes, DP7 is an exciting upgrade, fun and stable.

Yes you will get a manual and you will get the full version. The upgrade price that you mentioned is the discounted price that you're entitled to as a owner of DP. I've upgraded every version since version 3 and they always send the full version.

Hey and Jim, welcome back!! Depending on how long you've been gone, I think you're going to be shocked (in a good way) at how this DAW has "grown up" lately.

This IS good news ....Yes, I was wondering if I needed an already established Digital Performer already existing on my computer to load the update ....Now that I know that it is the "Full" version whereby no other earlier version on the computer is needed AND I get a hard copy of the manual , I am a HAPPY CAMPER !!.....I have been hearing good things about the newest version and folks that have used D.P. in the past are VERY happy with it , so coming back is that much more sweet .....Thanks again guys , I appreciate your help ....Sincerely, Jim
BTW , my last version was 2.7 on a PPC .....Jim

Nope all you need is your old version registered with motu and your in the game.
If the last version of DP was 2.7 you used was, 7.22 will blow your mind.
Welcome back

Wow, that is quite a jump! I got into DP at 2.72 and have upgraded to almost every new version along the way. It's been a bumpy ride and I tried to get into Logic on the side but never liked it. But with DP7 I felt MOTU was really in control again so I sold Logic. Haven't missed it for a second. DP7.22 is fantastic, I'm sure you'll like it!
Welcome back!

I've just gone from 3.01 on OS 9.2 to 7.21 on 10.4.11
The upgrade CD was version 7.21 and came with a nice juicy thick manual as well as a concise "getting started" booklet. Strangely it didn't arrive in a box. You don't need a previous version installed.
I've only been using it for about a week, but was surprised how intuitive it was even coming from a version as old as DP3. I've not touched the manual.
Its a lovely package, lots of fun!

Thanks guys .....All good things to hear ....I was about to switch to Logic to give it a go, and then thought to myself , maybe give MOTU one more shot ....I heard so much good even from guys who have been running D.P. all along , so I figured maybe they really got it together ....I'm glad that this is the case .... It took me many years to learn D.P. and hopefully the new additions to the program will not be so hard .... I come from WAY BACK to the Performer days before they spoke of "Digital " .... Back when you could run a full fledged Sequencer program with 2 gigs of ram and be FLYING !!!... LOL !!.....Times have changed !!.....Thanks again , Jim
