Stylus RMX v1.7 now ready; amazing groove-matching feature

Post by mhschmieder »

I saw this announcement a few days ago, but didn't have time to read it (and some blog discussions thereof) until today, so didn't notice at first that it includes the long-awaited 64-bit port.

I am impressed enough by the new groove-matching feature that I am probably going to buy it tonight using a President's Day weekend sale discount.

Glad you like it, but regarding the "long-awaited" comment: that announcement you're referring to is 2 years old. Stylus RMX has been 64 bit since 2009 :-).

Oh, sorry -- I thought I remembered people saying Stylus RMX was the final product to not get updated (after Omnisphere and Trilian over the past two years...).

I did an extensive forum search first and couldn't find the relevant posts by people who were waiting, but maybe it was a compatibility issue?

I've corrected the post's title so that it doesn't mislead people.

Well, now I'm confused, because the news story doesn't have a date on it or any time-contextual comments. I initially saw an update mentioned in a blog, but felt it bad form to cut/paste that here, so went to the main source (Spectrasonics website), and this was all that I could find (also, I looked at Gearslutz and searched for RMX topics here at MOTUnation).

So, my apologies for any false information. I guess the status and history of this product will become clearer to me when my copy arrives next week and I go through the installation and update process.

I figured it's best to authorize before upgrading, but Stylus RMX doesn't even show up in BIAS Peak Pro much less Digital Performer, so I guess I'll update from 1.5.1 to 1.7 and see if it shows up so that I can launch it and authorize it.

OK, that did the trick -- the shipping version must not be compatible with 64-bit systems or boots.

Looks like the 1.7 data update was done in March 2009 and the 1.9.4d software update was done in June 2010, so that undated announcement on the website must be from early 2010 or even early 2009. This makes the "new update" announcement at Gearslutz all the more mysterious.

Now to see if I can authorize, or if I have to jump through hoops as with the other products (I couldn't see all of the auth code at once with the other apps, so it took several cut/paste efforts into a standalone text file before I could manually type in what I could read from that file into the auth wizard).

No problem; the cut/paste worked for both the challenge and the response, so I guess that problem got taken care of (maybe at the Mac end, in recent Safari and/or OS X updates).
