Hi all,

I'm recording my band on the 2nd using either Reaper or Logic 8, which is fine but i'm probably going to be buying DP7 in the new year with some of my christmas money. I was just wondering if pitch correction would still work fine with the audio files i made using logic or reaper? Do I need to record to a specific audio format, wav/sdII/aiff or will any of these work?
I'm multi-tracking the gig so there should be enough separation of instruments. I'm just looking ahead to any pitch discrepancies of the live performance and would like to minimise these if I can.

It's not like the singing will be way off and i'll be misrepresenting the actual performance i'd just like to be able to tidy it up a little if needs be, so it sounds good on our website.

As far as I know, DP's pitch correction works with all supported file formats. If I'm wrong about that it would be a simple matter of converting formats during import (can be done automatically in DP). I think you'll find DP's pitch correction quite good for the sort of thing you're talking about. I use both Melodyne and DP's built-in pitch correction. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses and I pick one over the other depending on the job at hand. If you'll be doing a lot of this in the future, you may want to look into Melodyne as well. Good luck.

As much as I hate the idea of pitch correction, it has become a reality of the times. Use it if you need it, but use it sparingly. It can destroy a performance if over-used.

Yeah absolutely, will only be using it if absolutely necessary. We haven't got great monitoring just yet so i can foresee a few pitch issues mainly on my own part. And if the other parts are good enough it would be really handy to have some live tracks.

What Phil said. Yes, all supported audio formats can be addressed by DP's Pitch adjustments, and with ANY pitch correction, don't perfect yourself out of humanity.

Also be aware that DP's pitch correction is (for the moment, anyway) restricted to one track at a time; you cannot group, say, 2 bass tracks where one is a mic and one is a DI and correct them together- you'd need to submix onto a single track (mono or stereo) first. (Most pitch correction products have that same restriction.)

Yes, but one of the things I love about DP's pitch correction is the ability to copy and paste pitch data. So for the situation you describe, you can pitch correct one track and copy and paste just the pitch data to the other track. I've used this feature and it worked flawlessly.

Good tip indeed! I hope i won't have to be doing that though. It's vocals I'm worried about!
