Perhaps I'm not getting it, but frankly all I see is someone paging through screens having to expend more energy and engage more muscles to do so that flick of the finger with a mouse. I suppose it might be useful for a "conduct tempo" feature, but otherwise I don't see how it would be very applicable to typical DAW tasks, nor desirable?

It seems to be grouped in youtube with some hoax products.

At first I thought it might be ok for people doing AV presentation, but really, a simple small handheld wireless remote would be so much easier and better.

The message here is it will only get better. Imagine a simple gesture and a virtual fader moves pan etc. Vaporware maybe, but the idea is only engineering away.

Moving a fader, pressing a keyboard button and moving a mouse are already simple gestures. They also have the advantage over touchless gestures of giving the user some physical feedback in addition to visual and auditory feedback.

I tend to agree. The only advantage I can see is keeping fingerprints off of a touch screen.
