In Praise Of Stillwell's Rocket Comp (just a reminder)

If anyone has not explored this marvelous comp in depth they are really missing out. Does wonders for taming vocals and slamming drums.
Just a friendly reminder after using it all day today for making some unruly vocals really shine.
Anyone else got some 2 cents?

Scott makes some really nice plug-ins and he's a developer who has actually demonstrated that he cares about DP compatibility. Thumbs up on the plug from me, and thumbs up on supporting Stillwell plugs! We should try to get behind developers who DO NOT consider their AUs fully-tested if they've only tested in Logic.

Another thumbs up on The Rocket! I was just using it today on drums and bass and it was really great! Very musical. Plus, being lazy I really like Scott's presets as a starting point!

Love it and use it all the time. Scott is awesome with support and obviously a great plug-in designer. The Rocket is also FAST (if you want it). The attack times are in MICROseconds, not milliseconds. The Impetus control is way cool. Nice GUI's too on all the plugs. I use Major Tom too, but not nearly as much as The Rocket. Dig the Vibe EQ as well.

Yeah, I use the Rocket too. I'm considering picking up his vibe EQ as well.

Phil-O, just for kicks I put the Vibe on as many tracks as I could on a tune I was mixing yesterday and I was surprised at how many I kept it on!

Vibe, 1973 and Rocket get a LOT of use here - and I own almost the entire line of Softube and Abbey Road plugs...
Also DO check out the Bombardier. Excellent plug-in.

+1 for the Bombardier. I own the 1973 EQ and love it....
I must admit though, since the MW leveler came out, I use the rocket less and less as I find it a tad too 'digital' for my liking.

Yes, its 2 ms max attack time limits its applications, but what it is good for, it is good at. Different indeed from LA2A uses.

I like the other Stillwell compressors, Major Tom and Bombardier. The Rocket only has really crazy fast attack times and I just don’t use compressors that way. Maybe I’ll check out again someday.

Rocket is great for spanking... Use it quite a bit for bass, percussion or similar, if and when I want the sound to be rather aggressive. It's really incredible for that.

That does look interesting. I wonder how it compares to my beloved Slate Digital FG-X, which contains a very nice bus comp.
