I figured since people here do use T-RackS 3, some may also be interested in the book that music industry veteran and author Bobby Owsinski has written.

Take a look, you can get it directly from us or a dealer. It has some great information that goes beyond what I feel is our best manual, and you'd expect as much from Bobby O. Check out his other books too if you are not familiar. Well worth a read, for sure.

Thanks!

Peter

I got an email from you guys about this today. Looks very cool. I am a registered T-RackS 1 user. I never upgraded to version 3 (There IS no version 2 AFAIK) due to the upgrade price as I recall-- and the fact that at the time I was still using a G5 and it just ground my G5 to a halt. I may need to reconsider due to this book.

I've got all his "handbook" offerings; this is quite a boon for you IK folks.

Well done!

Thanks! We were really lucky to get Bobby O's ear and his interest in T-Racks. You can see four videos of Bobby's T-RackS presentations, starting with part 1 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq2trw-FUVA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Based on what I saw at Amazon from the contents and sample chapters, I ordered mine last night.

I thought of adding some of his other books, but there were too many cautionary reviews. At any rate, this one seems unique in its applicability vs. some of the other books, which have more competition.

This is really good timing, as I'll be taking his suggestions to heart as I am re-evaluating a lot of processes and workflows while setting up my first new computer in ten years.

I have a 6 or 7 of the individual t-racks plugins from the group buys that happened a few months ago. Is this book useful to me, or do you need one of the other two t-racks packages?

Um, I don't think many of us know which two T-RackS packages you don't have.

. You can tell by process of elimination. There are two packages, or you can buy the plugins one at a time. Since I bought them one at a time, I have neither of the two packages.

Sorry, I can't tell that, and it's too much work. :-) That's not how I came into my eventually-complete collection of T-RackS 3 plugs.

Sorry, I didn't think it was such a difficult question. If anyone has the book, it really boils down to whether the authors says in the introduction that the book is for people who have a specific T-Racks 3 set, etc.

Mine finally arrived yesterday. I plan to read it on BART going to and from the AES Convention.

BTW, for those attending the AES Convention in SF this week/weekend, Bobby Owsinski is giving a special talk tomorrow (Thursday, 5 November 2010, 115-215pm) called "Social Media for Musicians and Engineers", which is all about how to take advantage of Web 3.0 and other emerging technologies to manage your own independent music career.

I won't be able to attend, as it conflicts with another event that is directly job-related. Just thought I'd mention it though, as some on this forum are attending AES, and it didn't pop out of the conference schedule until reading more deeply.

Wow. That's something I'd be all over, Mark, were I in the right part of the world.

I think I have all his books, and am sure it would've been enlightening and empowering. Perhaps once the Monkey music starts spewing forth I'd be worth attending such a fest; at the very least, it's no doubt something I'll have to take a close gander at when the river starts a flowin'.

Thank you for sharing that. Very thoughtful.

As it turns out, I slipped into his presentation for twenty minutes anyway, as I found the other presenter to be a self-absorbed douchebag (I won't name names).

This is a two-part presentation, so I'll go to the followup tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).

He's covering a bit of material from all of his books, in the context of this two-part series on how to survive in today's independent music climate.

His main points today were regarding the all-important website and what NOT to do:

1. start with animation
2. use Flash
3. use frames
4. allow a File Not Found 404 error to come up anywhere

These are all things that KILL Google searches, which in turn hurts your growth.

Most important thing is an easy to find and use "click" for subscribing to a fan email.

He is talking a bit about mastering strategies as well, due to how most of us are financially strapped and have to do it ourselves these days. But tomorrow will be more about how to work best with Facebook, Twitter, etc., so I doubt he'll talk about T-RackS at all.

He's an engaging speaker, and presents strong informed opinions without being offensive.
