We want to use an ampex 440B - 4 track - to digitize several dozen 1/2" 4 track tapes that were recorded in the late 60's.
I've used an Maudio mobile pre to convert some old records using Cool edit pro - - but seems like I would be limited to recording only 2 tracks at a time.
I see the Motu Microbook accepts 4 inputs and comes with software.
So my question is will that combo allow us to simultaneously create 4 individual audio files - 1 file per track(for each song) - and they will be in sync?
Any opinions / info would be appreciated.
THanks
John

Re: Motu Microbook - Ampex 4 track
It should be able to do it but your actual problem will be different levels. The Microbook has one mic-level, one instrument-level, and two line-level inputs which, when all is hooked-up, will make level setting rather difficult.
You should look into a unit with more of the same inputs across the board. The 8-Pre and the UltraLite both have six or more line-level inputs.
